a download question
Hello all. My mum is a huge fan of this show. However, she doesn't get espn. I was wondering if there was a journal or site where people are posting the episodes for download. I have been searching limewire for here, but its really hit and miss.
Thank you so much,

Hello All ..
most of you probably don't remeber, but last season i used to post the winners of each fight .. see
.. i guess i'll do the same this season .. however there will be a lil difference, ESPN doesn't post lil banners of the fights, so i'll just have to type out the names .. :)
also, since i don't watch it when it first comes on, cuz it comes on at 10pm, and i'm at work at that time, i can only watch it Friday nights when it re-runs .. and thats when my updates will happen .. for any of u that care .. ha The Contender @ ESPN.ComBlue Team:

Interesting Little Tidbit
I learned something really interesting tonight. I was watching The Premiere of The Contender (of course-- what else would I watch) when my fiance got home from work. He watched some of Season 1 with me. Anywho-- when he walked in the door just before 11, it was the last round between Michael Clark and K-9. Watching them in their corners, he saw the trainer in the blue corner (Jeremy Williams) and thought he looked familiar. He thought about it for a few minutes and said "Babe, I think I know that guy. I went to high school with a Jeremy Williams and he was training to box. I remember him beating the shit outta some guy in the cafeteria in school. It looks a lot like him." So, I got curious during a commercial and hopped on google. Sure enough. It's the very same Jeremy Williams. Hometown- Fort Dodge, IA (where my fiance lived for his first 31 years... hell, where our son was born.)
So, there you have it. My future hubby went to school with one of the Contender trainers.

Tonight was a great show....
but maybe I am a big wuss....because I am always tearing up at the end when the looser is saying his last words before he leaves.

Hasn't been any action on here for a while but just wanted to let everyone know that season 2 of The Contender will be starting up this Tuesday @ 10 PM on ESPN!
Looks like they're giving Jeff "Hell Raza" Fraza another shot.. the rest of the contestants are new though. Let's hope it's as good as last season!
Oh and here's a link to ESPN site The Contender

Alright, WTF was THAT all about?
I attended the fights last night. WHAT THE HELL? How did it look on TV? Was it as clear as day as what I saw in person that Mora and Brinkley obviously did not win their respective bouts? The boos were sooooooooooo loud at Staples. Nobody could believe it when both winners were announced.
I love me some Jessie but he had no heart last night. Bonsante, as much as I think he's a douche bag, definitely was more "the fighter" in last night's match.
The Mora-Manfredo rematch was definitely better than the title fight. Manfredo's game was definitely on; it was a wise move on his part to get one of the greatest trainers in boxing. Mora, however, could have used some of the $1M and done the same. His boxing style was definitely lacking. No inside jabs (even with the eye cut), no ducking & weaving like he's known for - nothing. He totally came up flat. And sorry, Sergio...it was not a head butt that caused the gash. You got hit. Period.
Last night's energy wasn't as great as *the match
* from back in May. I think with Barnett focusing on Rock Star: INXS from June-September, the wait for the rematch took away some of the hype. On Wednesday Ticketmaster was selling tickets for 50% off.

Anyone watch the rematch?
Peter so should have won.
Anyone read his lips at the end of the fight?
After he won, Sergio went over to Peter to congratulate him on a great fight, and Peter said to him "You didn't win that fight"
What are your thoughts? Little bit of biased scoring since it was in Sergio's hometown? Opinions?

Copied this straight from the Contender website:It’s the news you’ve been waiting for, The Contender champion Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora will be defending his Contender belt against rival Peter “The Pride of Providence” Manfredo Jr., whom he last defeated in May. This highly anticipated rematch will take place in Mora’s hometown in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Saturday, October 15th.
The undercard will feature the following exciting match-ups:
Alfonso "Superman" Gomez vs. Jeff "The Hell Raza" Fraza
Anthony Bonsante vs. Jesse Brinkley
and more to be announced.
ESPN will air the event live at 11pm EST / 8pm PST.
Wow, very excited to hear this.

was there supposed to be some rematches or fan favorite fights? I might have missed it but I didn't see any commercials or anything new on the website... but, I saw a thing in TV guide that had the Contender on a list of shows that have been cancelled. Mark Burnett must feel like he is stretching himself out a little thin- he has like 8 shows out this year.

well, since this community could use some more activity, i thought i would do some contender trvia! the first question might be really really easy for you guys but i'll ask it anyway.
Question: In what round did anthony knock out brent?
and whoever gets it right first has to ask the next question. although, if you dont want to ask one then i will or hopefully somebody else will.
happy fourth of july everyone! Current Mood: content

brent cooper on tv..
i was flipping through the channels earlier and caught brent cooper and his wife on TBN (trinity broadcasting network). he was talking about his experience on The Contender
and since it's a Christian network he of course talked about his faith. it was pretty cool. :) i have to say i always liked brent when he was on the show.. very classy guy.. i hated to see him go, especially after anthony (who i can't stand anyway!) played it off like he was going to fight jimmy and instead picked him.
anywho, just thought i'd share with ya'll cause i thought it was pretty cool to see him on tv doing something other than boxing. :)

Hello. I'm new to the community. Obviously I'm a Contender fan.
I have a few icons to share with the class, icons of Jesse and Peter. I didn't see anything in the community user info about not posting icons, so I appologize if I'm not supposed to.
Hope y'all like :)( A real LJ cutCollapse )

Contender may be moving to ESPN!!!
The Contender isn't knocked out yet. Executive producer Mark Burnett, who has previously said that this is "my favorite work of my career," told reporters after the finale, "I've never had such pats on the back as I've had for 'The Contender.' I'm totally committed to it. If NBC doesn't want to do it, we'll go somewhere else. ... The public wants more of these guys and our job is to provide it to them." Burnett said that NBC is keeping lame series like "Joey" because of syndication. "It's all about money. Those (other) programs can make a lot of money for NBC in the future," he said.
And a move to a new network is already in the works. That network: ESPN. According to the Orange County Register, hosts "[Sylverster] Stallone and [Sugar Ray] Leonard are in negotiations with ESPN for a second season of the program."I am so excited about this!!! This could mean the show isn't going to die!
I was wondering if anyone here is planning on taping/recording the re-runs of the show that are coming on this week? They are re-airing the episodes on CNBC all week. Current Mood: curious
If anyone is, or is willing to, I would love to buy copies off of them.
